The next morning, Marcus contacted Vanessa and asked her to explain where the photographs came from. At first, she insisted they proved I was unfaithful. But when he asked for the original images, she became defensive. Eventually, she admitted that she had cropped the photographs to remove the other employees standing nearby. She had deliberately made an innocent moment look romantic.
Even worse, Vanessa admitted she had contacted Marcus because she wanted to create problems between Natalie and me. She had hoped that if Natalie left, I might become vulnerable enough to return to her. Marcus looked devastated when he realized he had helped someone else’s jealousy damage his own brother’s family. He immediately apologized and offered to help repair the car.
