Marcus finally showed me the pictures on his phone. They appeared to show me standing outside a restaurant with a blonde woman, holding her hand while she leaned toward me. For a moment, even I was confused. Then I recognized the woman. She was my colleague, Sarah, and the photographs had been taken during a company event several months earlier. Other employees had been present, and nothing inappropriate had happened.
I explained everything, but Marcus wasn’t convinced. He admitted the person who sent the photographs had warned him that I would probably deny everything. I asked who had sent them. He hesitated before showing me the message. The name on the screen belonged to someone I hadn’t spoken to in almost two years.
