The brand continued evolving throughout the following decades. New colors, packaging designs, and different varieties helped attract generations of customers. Peanut M&M’s arrived in 1954, introducing a crunchy peanut center surrounded by chocolate and the familiar candy shell. Other varieties eventually followed, expanding the product beyond its original chocolate-centered recipe.
The company also developed memorable advertising characters that gave the candies individual personalities. These colorful characters became an important part of the brand’s identity, helping M&M’s stand out in an increasingly competitive confectionery market. The little letters remained, connecting every new variety to the original invention.
