Panic rippled through Raghav as he finally recognized Arvind Khanna. Arvind spoke calmly, his voice steady and controlled.

“She didn’t leave you,” he said. “She outgrew the story you wrote.”

He then turned to me, and in that instant, the entire room seemed to shift. The tension changed, and every eye followed the exchange.

No one spoke. Priya stepped back quietly, sensing that nothing more needed to be said. The silence felt heavier than any argument could have.

I did not look at Raghav. Instead, I reached for Arvind’s hand. “Let’s go home,” he said softly.

And for the first time, I understood that I was never the forgotten one—just the one who had already won. As we walked out, silence followed us like applause no one dared break.
