My Son Left Me With Nothing After His Father Died — But He Didn’t Know What I Had Planned

I was sixty-eight when my husband Nicholas died after fourteen months of illness. We had spent forty years building our Pennsylvania farmhouse and Canton Family Orchards from twenty neglected acres into a respected organic business. Our children, Brandon and Melissa, had moved away and were not involved in its daily operation, but I still expected them to stay close after their father’s death.

 

 

 

Instead, their conversations quickly became about money, property, and selling the orchard. One evening, Brandon placed a document on the table claiming Nicholas wanted him and Melissa to take control. The signature looked wrong, and when I asked for the original, they avoided my questions. Then they told me I should move into a retirement community. The next morning, they drove me down a quiet rural road, stopped the car, and told me to get out. As I stood there with my suitcase, I realized they had planned far more than I had imagined.
