I Chose My Rich Father Over My Struggling Mom—Then I Found What She Had Hidden in My Bag

My mother raised me alone after my father left when I was four. She worked double shifts at a diner during the week and cleaned offices on weekends, always returning home with swollen feet and the same gentle smile. She never allowed me to feel poor. If there was one piece of chicken left, she claimed she had already eaten. When I needed shoes, money somehow appeared. I grew up believing her sacrifice was simply part of who she was.

 

 

 

Then, when I turned eighteen, my father suddenly returned. He arrived in a black car, wearing an expensive watch and speaking with practiced charm. He apologized for his absence and promised to make things right. Then he offered me everything I had secretly dreamed about: college tuition, a new car, a better apartment, clothes, books, and spending money. There was only one condition: I had to leave my mother behind. Exhausted from watching her struggle, I accepted. The next morning, she packed my bags without a single complaint. But when I opened one of them, I discovered something I never expected.
