I sat down and asked Emmett what the doctors had discovered. He finally admitted that a routine examination had revealed an abnormality requiring further investigation. He had been frightened and didn’t want me worrying before he knew exactly what was happening. Dana had accompanied him to his appointments because she worked in healthcare administration and understood the process.
