Wesley stood at that gate for forty minutes. I watched all of it on the camera. He argued with Bruno, then called me eleven times, then tried to climb the side fence, which is exactly why I had added the exterior camera covering it, and Bruno told him plainly that trespass onto private property with a documented refusal on file was a call to the sheriff, not a family disagreement.

 

That ended the climbing. What it did not end was the standoff, because my brother had told twenty-eight people I would fold, and folding was now the only thing that could save his face, so he made everyone wait on the road in the August heat while he insisted I would come to my senses.
