When he finally spoke to her again, she laughed and explained that she had noticed how tired he had become during their community visits. She wanted him to remember that difficulties were nothing new, even for people devoted to serving others. Psalm 129 was her humorous way of reminding him that hardship had always been part of life.
The priest smiled. “You could simply have told me I needed a holiday!” She laughed and replied, “Father, sometimes a little scripture makes the message more memorable.” They both laughed, and the mystery finally seemed solved.
