Thirty Four Years Of Coming Home To Her Voice And One Letter She Wrote Without Ever Telling Me

She had dated it fourteen months before she died. She wrote that she had asked Bennett for help twice, once with the November appointments and once when she could not get up the stairs, and that both times he had explained why it was not possible and she had told him it was fine.

 

She wrote that she had stopped asking after that, not out of anger, but because she could not bear to keep hearing the answer. Then she wrote the line that emptied the room. I never told your father because he would have gone to war for me, and I wanted him to keep his son.
