A Devoted Father Pays for Everything Until One Cruel Exclusion Changes How He Answers

I had promised my wife Rebecca that I would walk our daughter Melissa down the aisle. She had been sick for months, and even near the end, when she could barely speak above a whisper, that was the one thing she kept bringing up. “You have to do it for me,” she told me. “Promise.” I promised.

 

 

After Rebecca died, I poured myself into Melissa’s wedding. I paid for the venue, the flowers, the photographer, the dress alterations, and nearly everything else. I never complained because I believed I was honoring Rebecca’s last wish. But as the wedding approached, Melissa’s fiancé, Trevor, began making decisions that quietly pushed me further away. Then came the message I never expected: Trevor’s father would walk Melissa down the aisle instead. Aunt Diane would sit beside them at the family dinner. And I was told not to attend.
