The Widowed Engineer At The Wire Desk Who Read Her Daughter’s Banishment And Chose To Inspect Instead

The woman in the photograph had the same last name as Preston’s mother. She was his mother’s niece, his cousin by marriage, and someone who had apparently been part of his life throughout his engagement to my daughter, Delphine. Suddenly, everything made sense. Preston needed my financial support but did not want me asking questions, while his mother needed Delphine separated from the one person capable of examining the situation carefully. Together, they had slowly turned my daughter against me until she eventually banned me from her wedding. I had nearly transferred $34,000 into their plans before something stopped me.

 

 

 

Instead of calling Delphine in anger, I contacted Rebecca, and together we organized everything into one folder. Inside were the venue manager’s dated note showing Preston had requested the wedding refund for himself, records revealing $104,000 in hidden debt, a second residential address, the recent photograph of Preston with his mother’s niece, and a loan application where my name and credit had been used without my knowledge. Every piece had a date, signature, or record connecting it to the others. I now had something more powerful than an accusation: proof. But there was only one person who needed to see it.
