Chris Pratt Responds After Marvel Fans Demand He Be ‘Fired’ Over Charlie Kirk Remarks

Chris Pratt has responded to backlash after facing criticism for comments on the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Some fans even called for him to be removed from future Marvel projects.

Kirk, 30, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot on September 10 during an event at Utah Valley University. Eyewitnesses reported he was struck in the neck by a single bullet, collapsing in his chair before being pronounced dead despite emergency efforts.

The FBI identified the alleged shooter as Tyler Robinson, 22, who remains in custody facing aggravated murder and firearm charges. Prosecutors may seek the death penalty. Kirk’s wife, Erika, and their two young children have since received widespread public sympathy.

Shortly after news of the killing, Pratt posted on X: “Praying for Charlie Kirk right now, for his wife and young children, for our country. We need God’s grace. God help us.” While intended as a message of compassion, it drew swift backlash, with some accusing him of aligning with Kirk’s politics.

Within hours, hashtags demanding Pratt’s firing from Marvel trended on social media. Critics accused him of insensitivity, while others claimed his Hollywood career was in jeopardy. Supporters, however, defended his right to express sympathy.

Pratt later shared a video on Instagram, asking followers to pause and pray. He encouraged viewers to step away from their phones, connect with nature, and reach out to loved ones. Responses were mixed, with detractors calling it “useless” while others praised his positivity.

The controversy underscores ongoing tensions around celebrity influence, politics, and fan culture. Pratt’s Christian faith and public image have long sparked speculation about his beliefs, fueling polarized reactions.

Despite the uproar, there is no sign Marvel or other studios plan to distance themselves from him. Analysts suggest his box-office draw and loyal fan base will likely shield him from lasting fallout.
