Tragedy in Encino: Longtime American Idol Music Supervisor Robin Kaye and Husband Found at Home

The entertainment world is mourning the shocking loss of Robin Kaye, a revered music supervisor best known for her decade-long work on American Idol. Kaye and her husband, Thomas Deluca, were found dead inside their Encino home during a police welfare check, prompting an ongoing double homicide investigation. Authorities have yet to make any arrests, though they believe the incident was a targeted act rather than random violence.

Concerns were raised by family members after not hearing from the couple for several days. When LAPD arrived, they noticed signs of distress and blood near the front door. Forced entry revealed both Kaye and Deluca had been fatally shot. Adding to the mystery, a possible break-in attempt occurred just days earlier, involving a suspicious individual reportedly seen jumping the fence. Despite a police helicopter search, no suspects were found at that time.

Kaye was a prominent figure in television music, having shaped the musical identity of American Idol for over 15 seasons. Her influence extended beyond the show to projects like Lip Sync Battle, earning her multiple Guild of Music Supervisors Awards. Colleagues remembered her for her instinctive musical sense and her dedication to mentoring young professionals.

The tragic loss has deeply affected the entertainment community. Tributes have poured in from friends and peers who described Kaye as compassionate, driven, and exceptionally talented. Her ability to find the perfect song for a scene left a lasting impact.

While detectives continue to investigate, the community is urged to share any relevant information. As those who knew Robin Kaye begin to grieve, her artistic legacy endures.
