U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that certain lawful permanent residents have been found supporting and collaborating with Haitian gang leaders tied to Viv Ansanm, a designated foreign terrorist organization. In a statement, ICE emphasized that the United States “will not allow individuals to enjoy the benefits of legal status” while aiding violent or criminal groups abroad.
Among those implicated is Boulos, who federal authorities allege failed to disclose his involvement in founding a Haitian political party called Mouvement pour la Transformation et la Valorisation d’Haiti (MTVAyiti). According to ICE, Boulos was also referred by Haiti’s Unit for the Fight Against Corruption for allegedly misusing loans. These omissions, officials said, may constitute immigration fraud and provide grounds for his deportation. ICE stated that these actions reflect the Trump administration’s ongoing commitment to national security and regional stability. Boulos is currently detained at the ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations facility in Miami.
The investigation involved multiple federal agencies, including the State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service and the USCIS Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate. MTVAyiti, according to its website, promotes Haitian unity, social justice, and economic rebuilding, inspired by the ideals of revolutionary leader Jean-Jacques Dessalines and King Henri Christophe, key figures in Haiti’s struggle for independence.
