Daniel eventually admitted that his younger brother, Michael, had been contacting the hospital. Apparently, Michael had recently appeared after years of barely speaking to us, claiming he wanted to help. Daniel confessed that he had signed some financial documents without fully understanding them because he trusted his brother.
I felt uneasy and asked to see the paperwork. Daniel hesitated before pointing toward his bedside drawer. Inside, I discovered insurance documents and several unfamiliar signatures. One document suggested that someone had attempted to change the beneficiary without my knowledge.
