Left-wing radio host Charlamagne tha God admitted on Monday that Democrats are losing the messaging battle over the ongoing Schumer Shutdown. Speaking to MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace on her podcast, The Best People, he noted that polls indicate many Americans are starting to blame Democrats for the shutdown. Charlamagne criticized the party for failing to communicate effectively, saying Republicans are far better at messaging. He pointed out that, while the Trump administration previously cut federal jobs, Democrats now control all branches of government, yet the shutdown continues, costing Americans their jobs and $8 billion in taxpayer funds.
The stalemate continues as Democrats refuse to negotiate a temporary funding bill without securing expanded Obamacare benefits, which would allow states to fund healthcare coverage for illegal immigrants. Charlamagne emphasized that, while Democrats claim their stance is meant to protect healthcare affordability, it is harming many Americans in the process. He also criticized MSNBC for dismissing voter concerns about the southern border, arguing that public opinion on such issues should not be ignored, noting feedback he received from citizens in New York City and Chicago.
Late last week, the Senate voted against reopening the government for the 13th time, extending the shutdown. Republicans remain firm, refusing negotiations until funding is restored, while Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) insisted the Democratic position remains unchanged. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) highlighted the irony, stating that Democrats created and implemented Obamacare and its enhanced tax credits alone, set their sunset date independently, and are now attempting to blame Republicans for the resulting crisis. Thune warned that Democrats’ attempt to shift responsibility while seeking Republican assistance is politically contradictory.
