Edward protested that they were married, but Jennifer explained that marriage did not automatically give him unlimited authority over the property or the right to exclude his wife without regard to applicable law. After reviewing the documents and circumstances, the officers helped keep the situation calm while the parties addressed access to the residence. Blair finally walked back inside and discovered that her mother-in-law had already rearranged furniture, scattered medication bottles across the coffee table, and attached a shopping list to the refrigerator with two unmistakable words: “Blair pays.” She refused to accept the arrangement.
