Our Meddling Neighbor Got Our Cars Towed from Our Own Driveway—She Paid a Great Price in Return

When Jack and I moved into our new rental, our neighbor Lindsey greeted us warmly with cookies but soon launched into the neighborhood’s strict “one car per driveway” rule. Though both our cars fit perfectly, she insisted the rule applied to everyone, even temporary tenants.

We dismissed her warning as harmless overzealousness — until three days later, tow trucks arrived at dawn to remove both our cars. Watching from her driveway, Lindsey sipped coffee, clearly aware of what was happening.

That morning, we realized how seriously some neighbors took the HOA regulations. What started as a friendly introduction quickly revealed a community where strict rules — and those eager to enforce them — could turn neighborly warmth into quiet hostility.
