The entire room fell silent. Sheila’s smile disappeared slowly. I untied the apron, folded it neatly, and placed it over a chair. Then I signed the agreement. The dessert Sheila had tried to cancel, the fine linens, and the additional servers were all covered by my company, exactly as I had arranged months earlier.;
