A restoration of this scale would begin with a thorough inspection. The foundation, roof, drainage, electrical wiring, plumbing, and heating systems would all need to be evaluated before cosmetic improvements were attempted. Older homes can also contain materials such as lead-based paint or asbestos, making professional assessment especially important. Any structural or weather-related problems would need to be addressed first. The roof and drainage systems would be particularly important because water damage can quickly threaten the walls, floors, and other original features of a historic house.

Once the property was made structurally sound and protected from the elements, attention could turn toward preserving its architectural details. Original windows could be repaired rather than automatically replaced, while damaged doors, staircases, floors, trim, and decorative woodwork could be restored. Some missing pieces might require specialist craftsmen capable of reproducing historic patterns. The goal would not simply be to make the house look new, but to preserve the details that make it unmistakably Victorian. Every repair would need to balance modern safety and comfort with the character of the original design.

The interior could then be carefully adapted for modern living. A renovated kitchen, updated bathrooms, improved insulation, modern heating, and new utilities could make the house comfortable without destroying its historic proportions. Original trim and architectural features could remain part of the finished rooms instead of being covered or removed. With careful planning, modern improvements could exist alongside century-old craftsmanship. But the scale of the project would make budgeting just as important as the restoration itself, because unexpected structural problems could turn a beautiful vision into a much larger investment.
