In a rare bipartisan effort, Pennsylvania Senators John Fetterman and Dave McCormick joined together to call for an end to the government shutdown. Both stressed that reopening the government should rise above party politics, as the shutdown’s toll on citizens continues to grow.
The stalemate has disrupted essential services, with air traffic controllers, border agents, and millions relying on SNAP benefits all affected. Despite backing bills to pay federal workers, the senators’ proposals did not advance, leaving frustration across the country.
Still, their cooperation offered a hopeful example of unity. Fetterman and McCormick’s message urged Congress to place people’s needs above partisanship and work toward restoring government function for the good of all Americans.
