Nicole Lucas Hall’s daughter, Winry, was born with a rare skin condition called congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN), which gives her a large birthmark on her face. Though initially surprised, Nicole soon focused on love and protection rather than fear. Her experience inspired her to promote acceptance and awareness of visible differences, reminding others that every child is uniquely beautiful.
Nicole shares Winry’s story to help parents teach compassion and inclusivity. Many people had never seen a birthmark like Winry’s, and by sharing her journey, Nicole hopes to normalize such differences and empower children who look different to feel confident and proud.
While Winry’s family takes precautions to protect her skin, they emphasize joy and self-acceptance above all. Winry is a cheerful, talkative child whose happiness brightens everyone around her. Her story stands as a celebration of individuality and a powerful message that beauty comes in many forms—and every child deserves to be seen and loved for who they are.
