Chin hair grows through three stages: the Anagen (growth), Catagen (transitional), and Telogen (resting) phases. Each stage is vital to the continuous renewal and replacement of hair.
During Anagen, the hair actively grows, while Catagen signals the end of this process as the follicle detaches from its blood supply. The Telogen phase then allows the hair to rest before naturally shedding to make room for new growth.
Chin hair development is influenced mainly by androgens, hormones present in all genders. Higher androgen levels or greater sensitivity to them often lead to thicker, more noticeable chin hair.
