On Thursday morning, an active shooter incident unfolded at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, located just north of Detroit. The terrifying situation began around 7:08 a.m., sending waves of panic throughout the hospital campus. Initial reports indicated that shots had been fired in the hospital’s parking garage, prompting immediate emergency response and lockdown procedures.

As the details emerged, it was confirmed that the suspect was an employee of the hospital. The shooter targeted a fellow staff member, a 25-year-old coworker, and shot him twice in the arm. The motive behind the attack has not yet been disclosed, but the fact that both individuals worked at the same facility added a troubling layer to the incident.

Following the shooting, the victim was quickly taken to the hospital’s emergency department for treatment. Despite the serious nature of the injuries, medical staff were able to stabilize the individual. He remains in stable condition, according to hospital officials, and is expected to recover.

The incident caused significant disruption to the hospital’s normal operations. Patients, visitors, and medical personnel were temporarily placed under lockdown while authorities secured the area. Law enforcement responded swiftly, and the suspect was apprehended without further incident. Authorities continue to investigate the motive and background of the shooter.

This alarming event has raised concerns about workplace safety, particularly in healthcare settings. As one of the region’s major medical centers, Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital is now reviewing its security protocols to prevent future violence and ensure the safety of all staff and patients.
