See How To Unclog A Toilet Without Using A Plunger2

I slowly poured the hot water into the bowl, carefully watching to make sure it didn’t overflow. For a moment, nothing happened. The water stayed high, and I thought the entire attempt had failed. Then, slowly, the level began to drop.

I waited a few more seconds. The dish soap had helped lubricate and loosen the blockage, while the hot water encouraged it to move farther through the pipe. Suddenly, the remaining water drained away, and the toilet bowl returned to its normal level. The clog was gone.

Relieved, I tested the toilet with another flush. This time, the water swirled normally and disappeared without rising toward the edge. What had seemed like a problem that required a plunger—or even a call to a plumber—had been solved using something already sitting in the kitchen.

Of course, this trick won’t solve every clog. Large objects or severe blockages may require a plunger or professional help. But for a simple household clog, liquid dish soap and hot, non-boiling water can sometimes provide an easy first attempt.

That night, I finally put the bucket away and laughed at how quickly a clogged toilet had turned into a full emergency in my mind. The solution had been simple, inexpensive, and surprisingly effective. Sometimes the answer to an annoying household problem isn’t a special tool at all—it’s already sitting beside the kitchen sink.
