At five fifteen that morning, I made a call that changed everything. For three weeks, Bernadette had deliberately parked her silver Corsa across the bottom of my private driveway, trapping me and my two young boys inside. I had asked her repeatedly to stop. I had taken photographs and documented every morning she blocked us in. She never cared. My children were late for school, I was late for work, and eventually I received a warning. But before making my call, I checked something important.
The driveway was private property, clearly marked, and her car met the conditions for authorized removal. When the operator asked whether I had proof and whether Bernadette was available to move the vehicle, I looked toward her dark, silent house. She was asleep while my boys sat ready for another stressful morning. For eighteen mornings, I had been the one waiting for her. This time, I calmly gave the operator the information he needed. And at ten past seven, just as the sky began turning gray, a removal truck slowly backed toward Bernadette’s car.
