Part 2
Once maggots appear, the best approach is to deal with the garbage and thoroughly clean the bin. Remove the infested waste carefully, preferably by sealing it in a sturdy bag and placing it outside. Afterward, empty and wash the trash can thoroughly to remove food residue and odors that could continue attracting flies.”
Prevention is just as important as cleaning. Keep food scraps sealed, avoid leaving meat or other decomposing foods exposed, and take out garbage regularly, especially during hot weather. Keeping the inside of the bin dry and clean can also make it less attractive to flies.
Although maggots are unpleasant to discover, they are usually a sign that flies have found suitable organic material rather than something mysteriously appearing in the trash. By removing the source, cleaning the container, and limiting access to food waste, you can greatly reduce the chances of facing another surprise infestation.
