Should You Pay for Your Coworker’s Gas?

Getting a free ride to work every day may seem like a simple favor, especially when your coworker already drives near your home. But there are often costs you don’t immediately notice. The car belongs to someone else, and so do the fuel, time, maintenance, and occasional detours involved in picking you up. Even if the driver doesn’t complain, the arrangement can gradually feel one-sided.

Depending on someone for transportation every day can create tension if their effort isn’t acknowledged. Recognizing what they are contributing is a simple way to show that you appreciate the person rather than treating their kindness as part of your daily routine.
