Everyone in the village thought the old woman had finally lost her mind. For months, strange wooden stakes had appeared across the roof of her small house, positioned in places nobody could understand. Whenever neighbors passed by, they laughed, whispered, and joked that she was preparing for some ridiculous disaster. She never explained herself. She simply climbed onto the roof whenever the weather changed, checked the stakes, tightened a few fastenings, and returned inside. Then winter arrived. At first, the snow seemed harmless, but within days, powerful winds began tearing through the valley.
Trees bent almost to the ground, branches snapped, fences collapsed, and roofs began groaning beneath the pressure. One terrible night, the entire village shook under the force of the storm. By morning, people stepped outside to discover that their homes had suffered enormous damage. Then someone looked toward the old woman’s house and suddenly stopped.
