My Neighbor Tried to Enforce a One-Car Rule on Our Legally Parked Vehicles — Then Her Plan Backfired in Front of the Tow Trucks

When we moved into our new home, we expected the usual adjustments that came with living in a different neighborhood. Most things went smoothly, but one neighbor seemed determined to make our parking situation a problem. We owned two cars and legally parked both in front of our house. Neither blocked a driveway, sidewalk, or anyone else’s property, and there was no local rule limiting the number of vehicles a household could have. Still, our neighbor insisted that every family should own only one vehicle. At first, we assumed it was simply a misunderstanding. We politely explained that there was no such rule, but she refused to accept it. A few days later, we found a note tucked beneath a windshield wiper. It demanded that we remove the “extra” car and warned that there would be consequences if we did not.

We checked the regulations again and confirmed we were completely compliant. We decided not to argue and continued parking normally. For several quiet days, nothing happened. Then, early one morning, I noticed flashing lights through the bedroom curtains. I woke my spouse, and together we looked outside. Two enormous tow trucks were parked directly beside our cars. Our neighbor stood on the sidewalk with her arms crossed, watching confidently. She looked as though she had finally found a way to force us to obey her. Then the tow operators walked toward our vehicles and began examining something attached to the windshields.
