I walked out of the airplane bathroom expecting another round of humiliation. Instead, the entire cabin was focused on the woman who had spent the flight tormenting me. She was pale, sweating, and gripping the armrest of the seat she had insisted was too crowded. While I had been crying behind the locked door, she had continued arguing with a supervising flight attendant before suddenly collapsing in the aisle. As the crew arranged medical assistance for landing, I watched the same passengers she had tried to turn against me offer her water and blankets. Then, from across the aisle, the woman turned toward me with tears in her eyes and whispered something I never expected to hear.
