Nora stepped back onto the porch and examined the area more carefully. The previous evening had been windy, and a grocery bag containing several boxes of tea had been sitting near her kitchen door while she carried groceries inside.
She suddenly remembered that one box had tipped slightly when she brought it indoors. She checked the packaging and found one tea bag missing. The mystery was solved. A gust of wind could easily have carried the lightweight pouch across the short distance and left it on the porch. Nora laughed at herself for spending so much time imagining complicated explanations when the simplest one had been sitting in her kitchen. Still, she understood why the strange discovery had unsettled her. When an ordinary object appears somewhere unexpected, the human mind naturally searches for a reason.
