The Sealed Envelope My Father Left Behind Exposed The One Ally She Trusted

The morning before my father’s will was to be officially read, Kendra and Marcus appeared at my front door demanding that I leave the house. They spoke as though the decision had already been made, with Kendra casually discussing renovations and Marcus insisting that “family” meant I should understand. I stood between the roses my father had planted and listened to them claim a home they had no legal right to touch.

 

 

My father had spent his final weeks unusually careful about paperwork, but he never told me exactly why. He only said that when the time came, I would understand. Now, as Marcus demanded the keys, I noticed the envelope in my hand—the one my father had instructed me not to open until someone tried to force their way into his estate. I looked at the two of them, then at the sealed documents inside. For the first time that morning, Kendra stopped smiling.
