I Sold My Car And Worked Nights For My Daughter Until Her Graduation Exposed A Secret That Changed Everything

For years, I believed I was the only reason my daughter Jane could stay at university. I sold my car, worked endless shifts, skipped vacations, and counted every bill twice. Jane never complained about money, but I could see the guilt in her eyes whenever I came home exhausted. I always told her it was worth it because her education mattered more than my comfort. Then, one afternoon, the university dean called me unexpectedly. He said there was a confidential matter concerning Jane’s tuition and asked me to come to his office immediately. I assumed there had been a mistake with her account, perhaps another payment I had forgotten to make.

 

 

When I arrived, the dean closed the door and asked me to sit down. His expression was unusually serious. He told me that Jane’s tuition had been covered for much longer than I realized, but the information had been kept private at the request of the person making the payments. I stared at him, unable to understand. Then he mentioned a name I had not heard in years—the name of the man who had walked away from us and whom I believed had abandoned both me and our daughter. The dean opened a folder, and when I saw the first page, my hands began to shake.
