Late one evening, Mia finished cleaning the kitchen and noticed that the LED light beneath her range hood was still glowing. She had developed a habit of leaving it on overnight because the soft light made it easier to walk through the kitchen without turning on the bright ceiling fixture. Since the bulb used very little electricity, she had never worried about it.
Still, that night she wondered whether leaving a range hood light on for hours could create a safety problem. She checked the bulb and found that it was properly installed and appeared to be working normally. The range hood itself was clean, and there were no unusual smells or sounds. Mia considered switching the light off, but then remembered how convenient the gentle glow had been during previous nights.
