Doctor discusses the dangers of kissing someone who passed away and the health risks it can create

Saying goodbye to someone you love can be one of the most painful moments imaginable. For many grieving families, a final kiss on the forehead or a gentle touch of the hand feels like an important way to express love, respect, and farewell. However, a doctor’s warning has raised questions about whether close physical contact with a deceased person could sometimes carry health risks.

 

 

After death, the body naturally begins to change, and decomposition eventually allows bacteria and other microorganisms to multiply within tissues. As these changes progress, unpleasant odors and bodily fluids may develop. According to the warning, kissing or touching a body could potentially expose someone to microorganisms, although the actual risk depends heavily on the circumstances and, most importantly, the cause of death. For some families, the warning may be particularly concerning because they may not know what precautions are necessary.
