Every time Maya opened her refrigerator, she held her breath. The shelves were clean, the food was organized, and nothing appeared spoiled, yet an unpleasant smell lingered inside. She had already tried expensive deodorizers, sprays, and repeated deep cleanings, but the odor always seemed to return. One Saturday morning, tired of wasting money, she decided to try something much simpler. She checked every container, threw away anything questionable, wiped the shelves, and washed the drawers. Then she remembered hearing that a few drops of vanilla extract could make a refrigerator smell fresh.
She soaked two cotton balls with vanilla and placed them on a small dish inside the fridge. At first, nothing seemed different. She closed the door and went about her morning. Several hours later, she opened it again and immediately noticed a warm, gentle scent instead of the unpleasant odor. Curious, Maya looked more closely at the shelves. Then she noticed something she had completely missed during her earlier cleaning.
