For years, the Barrett property had been defined by the quiet beauty of the ridge and the ancient oak trees that lined it. My grandfather had protected that land with careful agreements and records that few people remembered. When Cordelia and the Willow Creek board decided to reshape the area, they believed they could simply take control. They planned a golf-cart easement, approved a scenic-corridor project, and began selling nearby homes with promises of expensive “unobstructed fairway frontage.”

I watched silently as they built their plans on assumptions instead of facts. For three days, I allowed them to collect signatures, approve documents, and put their claims into writing. Every promise they made became evidence.
