A Second Wife Has No Claim to a Car That Was Dad’s 2

Priya’s investigation quickly uncovered the truth. The buyer’s documents showed that the person who completed the transaction was not Kayla, despite her taking credit for the sale. The signature belonged to Dylan, and the cashier’s check had been accepted by him after he handed over the keys and drove the Corvette away. Kayla had simply created the appearance that she controlled the process.

The title records revealed the detail that changed everything. Since 2019, the Corvette had been jointly owned by Ray and Barbara with rights of survivorship. When Ray died, ownership transferred fully to Barbara. Neither Kayla nor Dylan had any legal ownership of the vehicle, meaning they had sold something that never belonged to them.

Priya immediately filed the necessary notices, and the title company froze the transfer. The $58,000 payment was placed into dispute while authorities worked through the recovery process. Both Kayla and Dylan were named in the demand for restitution. The empty space in Barbara’s driveway meant nothing compared to the official records proving the car was hers.

Barbara looked at the two people who had tried to take away the final possession connected to her husband. She remembered how she had supported Ray through every repair and every long night in the garage. She calmly signed the final documents and walked away, knowing the truth was finally protected. Within days, the Corvette returned home, sitting beneath its cover exactly where Ray had left it. The oil stain remained on the driveway, but so did something far more important: proof that Barbara had always been the rightful owner.
