A Boss’s Unexpected Arrival Exposes a Sister’s Betrayal

The silence lingered after Grant and Delphine disappeared through the restaurant doors. Sabrina’s parents sat motionless, each avoiding the other’s eyes as though admitting the truth aloud would somehow make the past impossible to undo. The birthday cake remained untouched in the center of the table, its candles long extinguished. Finally, Dad cleared his throat. “Sabrina… how long has this been happening?” She answered honestly. “Long enough that I stopped trying to convince you otherwise.” Her words carried no anger now, only exhaustion. Mom lowered her head, realizing that years of unquestioning belief had slowly pushed one daughter away while encouraging the other’s deception.

Just as the waiter quietly boxed the untouched cake, Grant returned alone. His face was pale, but determined. He looked directly at Sabrina before placing a folded envelope on the table. “Delphine asked me to destroy this,” he said softly. “After reading it… I think you deserve to see it first.” Sabrina reached for the envelope as everyone held their breath.
