The Number Of Squares You See Determines If You’re A Narcissist 2

When people first approach the puzzle, their eyes usually focus on the smallest and most obvious details. The nine small squares stand out immediately, making them the easiest shapes to identify. But with a little more observation, additional squares begin to appear. The four larger squares created by groups of smaller sections and the single large square surrounding the entire pattern bring the total count to fourteen.

According to popular internet interpretations, different answers supposedly reveal different personality traits. Those who find fewer squares are jokingly described as relaxed people who do not spend too much time analyzing details. Those who discover around nine to eleven squares are considered balanced thinkers who can recognize both small details and the bigger picture. People who find twelve to fourteen are playfully labeled as perfectionists or deep thinkers, with the “narcissist” connection being nothing more than an entertaining online joke.

The reason the illusion feels surprisingly accurate is because it reflects how differently people process information. Some individuals naturally focus on the overall image first, while others examine every tiny detail until they understand the complete structure. The puzzle does not measure personality, intelligence, or mental health, but it does demonstrate how perception can vary from person to person.

Real narcissism is far more complex and has nothing to do with counting shapes. It involves patterns of behavior, emotions, and relationships—not solving a visual puzzle. The more meaningful part of the experience is how someone reacts after seeing their result. Do they laugh, become competitive, or simply enjoy the challenge?

In the end, the square puzzle is less about proving anything and more about encouraging curiosity. It reminds us that people can view the same thing in completely different ways. Some notice individual pieces, while others immediately see the entire structure. Both approaches have value, and the simple act of wondering about the answer reveals something positive: a desire to explore, learn, and understand the world around us.
