The café was louder than usual that afternoon, filled with conversations, clinking cups, and the sounds of people enjoying their meals. I was sitting near the counter when I noticed a young mother by the window struggling to eat while holding her crying baby. She looked exhausted, trying her best to stay calm as every attempt to take a bite was interrupted by her child needing comfort. Her food remained untouched, slowly becoming cold, while most customers continued with their own conversations.
Then a man wearing a suit walked toward her table. Instead of offering understanding, he complained angrily about the baby’s crying. His words caused the mother to lower her eyes in embarrassment and begin gathering her things. The café became strangely quiet, and everyone watched without speaking. I realized I was doing the same. Before I could decide whether to act, someone suddenly stood up from the counter and walked toward them.
