Someone who repeatedly wakes during these hours may interpret it as a reminder to examine stress levels or unresolved emotions. Practices such as journaling, breathing exercises, meditation, or creating a calmer bedtime routine are often suggested as ways to encourage relaxation.

The period between 3:00 and 5:00 a.m. is traditionally linked with the lungs. This time is associated with breathing, energy, and emotions such as grief or sadness. Some traditions view these early morning hours as a naturally reflective period when the mind becomes quieter. From a practical perspective, waking at this time may also be connected to physical factors such as breathing issues, room conditions, or sleep disruptions. Considering both physical and emotional possibilities can provide a more complete understanding of the pattern.

Between 5:00 and 7:00 a.m., the large intestine is associated with the body’s process of elimination according to TCM. This concept extends beyond digestion and includes the idea of releasing emotional burdens, old thoughts, and experiences that no longer serve a person. Scientifically, this period is also close to the natural waking time for many people because the body begins preparing for daytime activity.

Ultimately, repeated nighttime awakenings can be viewed from multiple perspectives. They may simply reflect sleep habits, stress, or changes in the body’s natural rhythms, but they can also encourage people to pay closer attention to their overall health and emotional state. Instead of seeing these moments only as interruptions, they can become reminders to create healthier routines, manage stress, and listen more carefully to what the body may be communicating.
