FBI details chilling Discord messages Charlie Kirk murder suspect sent to roommate after attack

Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from Utah, has been arrested in connection with the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Kirk was fatally shot on September 10 during a public event at Utah Valley University, where he was speaking as part of his Turning Point USA tour. The FBI and Utah authorities launched an intensive manhunt, and Robinson was taken into custody on September 11 after a tip from a family member.

The tip that led to Robinson’s arrest came from a relative who said Robinson had either confessed or implied involvement in the shooting. That relative reached out to a family friend, who then contacted law enforcement. Robinson’s father also reportedly saw a surveillance photo and worked with a pastor to help facilitate his son’s surrender.

Authorities found key evidence on Robinson’s Discord account, shared by his roommate. Messages revealed plans to pick up a bolt-action rifle from a drop site, stash it in a bush wrapped in a towel, and change clothes after the attack. The rifle was later found in a wooded area near the campus, wrapped exactly as described.

Investigators also recovered spent and unfired bullet casings, some engraved with disturbing or mocking messages. These included phrases like “Hey fascist! Catch!”, “O Bella Ciao” (an anti-fascist anthem), and meme-like text such as “Notices bulge OWO what’s this?” Authorities believe the writings reflect a political or ideological motive behind the attack.

Robinson’s family described him as having grown increasingly political in recent years. During a recent family dinner, he reportedly expressed disdain for Kirk’s views and mentioned the upcoming university appearance. No prior criminal history has been reported for Robinson.

He is currently being held without bail on multiple charges, including aggravated murder. Authorities say they believe Robinson acted alone.
