ABC Shooting: Suspect Targeted Bondi, Patel

Federal Arrest Made After Sacramento Drive-By Shooting

Federal authorities have arrested 64-year-old Anibal Hernandez-Santana following a drive-by shooting outside ABC 10 in Sacramento, California. The incident occurred in the early hours of September 19, just one day after a small protest outside the station. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the attack.\

Discovery of a Note
According to the Justice Department, investigators found a handwritten note in Hernandez-Santana’s vehicle. The message referenced several public officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Deputy Director Dan Bongino. Authorities believe the note indicated potential threats tied to concerns surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein case.

Social Media Activity
Reports from Variety revealed that Hernandez-Santana’s social media accounts frequently criticized former President Donald Trump. In several posts, he voiced strong opposition to the administration and hinted he was ready to “fight like hell.”

Defense Argument
His attorney, Mark Reichel, suggested political bias is shaping the case, stating prosecutors may frame him as “liberal and left wing” to reinforce their charges. Reichel emphasized that his client’s views should not overshadow the legal facts of the case.

Initial Release and Rearrest
Local authorities initially released Hernandez-Santana on $200,000 bail. However, federal investigators rearrested him shortly after on charges related to interference with licensed broadcasts, a more serious federal offense.

Current Status
Hernandez-Santana remains in custody under federal hold while prosecutors continue reviewing evidence. Officials have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges.

Public Response
FBI Director Kash Patel addressed the situation on X, declaring: “Targeted acts of violence are unacceptable and will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.”

Ongoing Investigation
The case remains under federal investigation as authorities examine Hernandez-Santana’s motives, background, and potential threats to public officials.
