When my son Graham invited me to Larkspur Ridge Country Club, he quietly warned me to keep my work history low-key because Celeste’s friends asked too many questions. I agreed, as I usually did, until my eight-year-old granddaughter, Lottie, grabbed the phone and excitedly shouted that she had already told everyone Grandma was coming. I promised her I would be there. The following day, Celeste even questioned whether I would wear my old steel watch, calling it vintage.
