We escaped through a hidden tunnel beneath the cabin and drove toward Raven Mesa, an abandoned facility where Ghostwing had originally been developed. During the journey, Mom finally explained why Voss might need me. While she was pregnant, she had been exposed to a signal pattern connected to the experimental system. After my birth, a test revealed that Ghostwing responded to my brain activity. The scientists had never fully understood why, but Mom believed Voss had discovered that I could complete the interface he needed to control his new aircraft. I struggled to accept that something about me had been connected to a secret military project before I was even old enough to understand the world. Mom apologized for keeping the truth from me, explaining that she wanted me to grow up with a normal childhood instead of being hunted because of something I could not control.<\/p>\n
When we reached Raven Mesa, we entered through an old maintenance tunnel and found Admiral Carter tied to a chair in a control room. He was bruised but alive. After freeing him, we learned that Voss had already prepared a prototype aircraft and was waiting for me to complete its interface. Before we could leave, Voss appeared with armed men and led us into the hangar. The aircraft stood beneath the lights, its black surface shimmering like heat above a road. Voss spoke about its potential to end wars by making aircraft undetectable, but Mom accused him of wanting power rather than peace. He insisted that she had destroyed something that could change history. Then he turned toward me and said the aircraft could already recognize me. I felt a strange pressure behind my eyes, as though something inside the machine was calling to me. Mom grabbed my hand and warned me not to listen. Voss smiled because he knew I could hear it.<\/p>\n
