When I came home from work that evening, I expected the usual scene: my children watching cartoons while their babysitter kept an eye on them. Instead, I walked through the door and found the babysitter stepping out of the bathroom with wet hair and a towel wrapped around her. She immediately explained that my youngest had accidentally spilled milk on her clothes while the children were sleeping, so she had taken a quick shower and changed. Her explanation sounded reasonable, but before I could decide how I felt about it, my husband suddenly appeared from the kitchen.

The next morning, determined to find out what was really happening when I wasn’t home, I placed an old nanny camera in the living room before leaving for work. Later that day, I checked the footage—and what I saw made my stomach drop.
