The next morning, Dad and I contacted the bank. The representative confirmed that none of my payments had ever reached the mortgage. They had all gone into the separate account connected to Rachel. I gathered every payment confirmation and message Mom had sent me claiming the money was protecting the house. Mom confessed that she had allowed Rachel to use the account because she wanted to help her favorite daughter.
